Who cares about how commercial goods and products came to be or who created them? Not many, but with the exception of the group Youth First Initiative Philippines.
Telling stories of human creativity, ingenuity and innovation is the concept behind why it organized Produkto Lokal Weekend Fair which will start 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on February 27 to 28, 2016 at the Mango Tree Restaurant in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
The fair will allow interested end-users to know the idea behind how the product was developed or what inspiration had served to encourage its creator or maker to make it into finished products.
Among the product exhibitors are Denise who established Tigbato.ph, a platform were she introduced the art of calligraphy into interesting stuffs. An art she learned way back when she was 11 years old, Denise was able to refine her art by constant practice and made Tigbato.ph her way of re-introducing and educating people about calligraphy.
The fair will also feature original prints and designs by Pearl Diano. Diano’s print works like postcards will make one relive the past when postcards were valuable art pieces and collectors’ item especially when given by special persons or friends from distant places.
There’s much more from Sweet Rescue wherein Hyacinth kicked-off her vanilla muffin business from rummaging into old cabinets making her discover old muffin tin cans by Grandma or Sidro’s homemade donuts done from natural ingredients.
Aside from loading sweets, one can opt to go healthy during its visit to Produkto Lokal by trying Healthy Press who produces delicious drinks that serve as alternative choice from carbonated drinks.
There is also Terra Verde (Green Land) whose products promote advocacy in support for local farmers and environmental preservation through cultivation and production of organic crops.
According to Romellaine Arsenio, Creative Communications Manager of Youth First Initiative Philippines, Produkto Lokal will also present the Panayanon artisans so that goers to the fair will learn about indigenous practices that continue to endure to this day.
The Produkto Lokal Weekend Fair is an initiative by Youth First Initiative Philippines, a group of young leaders and entrepreneurs who puts into mainstream their skills and experience in business, arts and in using new technology.
Janvie Amido, founder and executive director of the group believes that the millennial are purveyors of economic development and their ideas, creativity and innovation when channeled into entrepreneurial activities will propel change and which will benefit our people and society.
