Concepcion plant breaks ground for 5.1 MW Solar Facility
Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) groundbreaks 5.1 Megawatt (MW) Solar Power Facility, August 16.
The initiative is dubbed as a big step towards a greener future as it celebrates 7th anniversary of commercial operations with the theme: “PCPC Going Green @ 7.”
Province of Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. led the groundbreaking ceremony together with the LGU of Concepcion, Iloilo, DENR officials, service provider Northeast No. 1 Electric Power Construction Co. Ltd. (NEPC), and PCPC’s Board of Directors and Senior Management.
“The going green initiative of PCPC is very important to us because it is an alignment with the direction of the province and the country in the area of energy,” Gov. Defensor said during his speech.
Defensor also cited the Renewable Energy Ordinance of 2022 which aims to develop and promote renewable energy in the province. “More than the convergence and doing your part in taking care of our environment, PCPC is a very important contribution to the way of the government, way of life in the province (of Iloilo), and the whole country,” Defensor added.
In addition to reducing its carbon footprint, the solar farm will also provide a reliable source of renewable energy for the PCPC power plant. It is scheduled to be completed in the 4th quarter of 2023.
PCPC is the owner of the 135-MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Combustion Power Plant in Concepcion, Iloilo.
