Megaworld Iloilo opens Christmas with a dazzling 40-foot tree

The Megaworld has enjoined the Ilonggos to the much awaited season of the year – Christmas. Last November 8, 2019, the property giant transformed the Festive Walk Mall outdoor atrium into a Christmas venue with music, performances, and presentations as they unveiled a giant 40-foot Christmas Tree. 

The venue was teeming with colorful decorations and bright lights and a confetti which signaled the culmination of the night’s festivity with an amazing fireworks display conveying a message that Christmas is here and families has to start coming together to celebrate and enjoy the holiday.

This year’s theme carry a ‘nostalgic childhood Christmas’ with a switched on of the ‘Enchanted Forest of Lights’ highlighted by 38 giant animal installations scattered along Megaworld Boulevard, Festive Walk Mall, Festive Walk Parade, and Plaza Delgado.

The Enchanted Forest of Lights serves as this year’s must-see holiday season attraction within the 72-hectare township. The decoration and ornaments are composed of huge LED-lighted displays that reach as high as 15 feet and a larger-than-life replicas of squirrels, dogs, bears, giraffes and a host of sea animals like goldfish, dolphins, octopus, and whales.

Also on display are fantasy creatures like the unicorn, which added a magical wonder evoked by the whimsical lighted displays.

The evening was filled of fun and entertainment and invited guests and the public was regaled with aerial tricks, acrobatics, and graceful ballet performances by Parkour Iloilo, Jumpstreet Gymnastics, and the Claravall-Gonzales School of Classical Ballet.

Adding more color and relevance to the season is the linkage by Megaworld with the Ati community—an indigenous people in the city who are now residing in Brgy. Lanit in Jaro district. The participation and performance of over 40 kids and their family manifested the real spirit of Christmas and that is to give and share blessings. 

“Christmas is all about savoring moments and creating new memories with your loved ones. With our dazzling displays, attractions and events, we invite everyone to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year here at Iloilo Business Park,” shared Iloilo Business Park vice president for sales and marketing Jennifer Palmares-Fong. 

Palmares-Fong led the ceremonies together with Festive Walk Iloilo general manager Buford Tan. They were joined by Dept. of Tourism-VI regional director Atty. Helen J. Catalbas, Iloilo City Tourism Officer Junel Ann Divinagracia and Councilors Alan Zaldivar and Jay Treñas. 

The different stakeholders of the Iloilo Business Park also graced the occasion together with persons from the arts and culture community of Iloilo City. 

Concluding the Christmas kickoff celebrations was the Kinaadman Chorale, which serenaded the crowd with their own rendition of classic Yuletide carols.

Megaworld Iloilo has announced a series of upcoming activities and exciting events for mall goers this Holiday season. The November is packed with events which started off with the Iloilo Mega Book Fair from November 9 to 11 and the Iloilo Designer’s Week set on November 18-30. 

Rounding up the treats for the season are Christmas fairs featuring interesting local products, great deals and promos, with more performances and a meet and greet opportunity with Santa Claus.
