The Iloilo City Tourism Development Plan for the period 2020 to 2022 has been adopted.
The members of the Iloilo City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2020-627 adopting the 3-year plan as endorsed by the Local Chief Executive and by the Iloilo City Local Development Council through Resolution No. 20, Series of 2019.
The plan serves as a guide in attaining the highly-urbanized city’s vision of being a “Premier SMART City of Excellence” – SMART outlines the city’s growth priority areas: Service, Manufacturing and Agribusiness, Arts and Culture, Research Technology, Tourism.
It identified tourism and the allied sector of arts and culture as a significant industry to develop and to serve as a key for the city to become globally competitive.
The 134-page Iloilo City Tourism Plan aligned the development of local tourism as a cross-cutting theme in the 6-Point Agenda of the current administration called WHEELS – a development roadmap covering Welfare, Health and Sanitation, Education, Environmental Management, Livelihood, and Sustainability.
