Iloilo Sunset Boulevard is IRNA’s name once completed

Iloilo Sunset Boulevard has become known as the Iloilo River Esplanade sunset, but it will be formally established soon as a popular attraction that will be offered by the Iloilo River North Avenue (IRNA) project once completed.

This photo essay will reveal some of the beautiful sunset that can be found in this fast growing metropolis. 

“There is nothing more musical than a sunset,” expressed French composer Claude Debussy, and the Iloilo City sunset is like a music to many Ilonggos who approach dusk to snap a photo.

Where to find radiant sunsets in Iloilo City

One of the most popular venues to capture Iloilo City’s radiant sunset is at the Iloilo River Esplanade, an expanded river bank linear park from Section 1 in Mandurriao and Molo districts to Section 9 in Muelle Loney. It is now interchangeably known as Iloilo River Sunset Boulevard. 

A sunset at the Villa Beach and Fort San Pedro overlooking the island of Guimaras is also something to catch for.

In addition, Iloilo City’s urban skyline with rising commercial buildings, hotels and landmarks are also among attractions for sunset photos especially during summer season. Yet the city’s clear sky can yield a beautiful sunset with spontaneity at any given time and season.   

The rich images of Iloilo City sunsets are scattered on social media and in various social media groups, even on commerce and business groups. The magnificent afternoon view of Iloilo sunset will soon earn its rightful place in the upcoming construction of IRNA for it will be called as Iloilo’s Sunset Boulevard, according to Sen. Frank M. Drilon. 

The P803-million IRNA project will have a 4-lane road stretching 5.5 kilometers from the foot of Iloilo River Esplanade 1 and 2 in Molo district to Brgy. Cagbang in Oton town. It will be integrated with a walkway and bikeway on each side. Bridges will also be constructed at various points for crossing the Iloilo River.
